Dick Barnes was born in Parke County, Indiana, where he grew up and worked on his family’s rural farm. In 1950 he married his wife, Margaret Ann, and in 1982 they made their home in the sunny Triad of North Carolina. Dick received his Bachelor of Arts in Business, with a minor in Accounting and Marketing, from Indiana State University. He has a strong professional background in accounting, business management and recruiting, marketing, and sales management.
In 2002 Dick finally decided to try his hand at something he had had “an itch” to do for many years… real estate. At the age of 72, he achieved his dream by attending real estate school and received his Broker’s license in 2003. He was immediately recruited by Century 21, where he quickly became a Top Producing agent.
After being a part of a couple nation-wide real estate companies, Dick decided to join the Realty One team in 2015. Over the course of his real estate career, Dick has received numerous awards and has been recognized for his professionalism and dedication to the industry. In his own words, “As long as there are properties to sell and God is willing, I will be out there selling them. I just wished I had scratched my real estate itch when I was in my fifties instead of my seventies!”
